The electoral college is outdated and ineffective. The latest election is an example, more than 59 million votes don't count due to the electoral college awarding points to candidates. In the year 2000 election 51 million votes didn't count. If an individuals vote differs from the majority in the same precinct that vote is effectively thrown out and the points are awarded to the other candidate. At the end of the day the winner is not the person with the most votes!
