do away with the electoral college

Created by S.F. on January 19, 2013

doing away with the electoral college will lead to a more democratic process for electing the president of the united states. The electoral college has lead to some less than democratic behavior throughout history. In the election of 1824, JQA was chosen as president by the House, even though he came in second. In the election of 2000, Al Gore lost despite getting the popular vote. These examples of undemocratic behavior would never have occurred if not for the institution of the electoral college.
