This petition has been created to abolish the Electoral College and rely solely upon popular vote. Too many voices in the United States are not heard when it comes to voting. California has 55 electoral votes, 20% of what is needed to win a presidential election. California is a large state, but it does not represent or make up 20% of the United States of America. The backbone of the United States is not heard. The current POTUS won the election by roughly 3,000,000 popular votes, with close to 2,000,000 coming from California. Yet, the incumbent won by a landslide of Electoral votes. After a state declares a winner, votes are no longer counted. With the Electoral College, only the population of a few states matter. Every vote matter, not just a handful of states.
