This petition calls for the end of the electoral college, an overly complicated system that not only prevents the United States from becoming a true democracy, but also slows newer ideas and interests from being introduced to both the public and federal government. Yes, the electoral college was put in place to stop radical parties from gaining footholds in the United States Federal Government, but those radical parties are long gone, and it would be in the people's best interest to create a system which embodies the definition of democracy.
