do away with long-term unemployment benefits, reduce the maximum amount of time one can draw these benefits to 6 months.

The government can no longer afford to keep paying unemployment for extended periods of time, people are not always willing to find employment when they can keep recieving benefits for free. If we reduce the maximum period that one can draw unemployment, it might force people to try and find a job and reduce the cost to the government and taxpayers.
