.Our families in Syria are calling daily asking for our help and support to end the killing by the Syrian regime of unarmed citizens. Their life has become a nightmare – daily random bombing of the towns and the cities, the indiscriminate shooting on “anything that moves” and the arbitrary detention and arrest of anyone within their reach. More than 3750 people have been killed since peaceful protesters took to the streets in mid-March – ALL of whom were shot or beaten to death by Syrian government security forces. The number is rising as we write this letter..
Nearly 27,000 Syrian citizens are estimated to have been detained where thousands have been tortured. There are allegations of extrajudicial executions and other unlawful killings, arbitrary arrests and enforced disappearances.
