Do Major Tax Reform. Replace the Income Tax (Production Tax) with the Fair Tax (Consumption Tax)

Created by B.S. on September 22, 2011

The current income tax is based on tax those who produce things in the economy (thus suppressing production). Replace the Income Tax with the 'Fair' tax which is a national Sales tax (tax on consumption and fixed percent). Items exclude form the tax would be items that are vital to live (basic Food, Water, Utilities for people, basic clothing, etc). This tax would also capture all the unreported income when people use it to buy things outside the basic necessity group. Benefits: Everybody pays according to their ability to consume (regardless on how they got the money). If the rich buy a jet than that's taxable. The poor would hardly be hit because most of what they consume would come under the basic necessities. We would also be able to get rid of a large government bureaucracy.
