Do more to federally address the mental health crisis in the United States and in turn reduce violent crime.

The gun control debate has grown stale and more importantly has done very little to address the fundamental issue or even identify what the issue really is. The facts are that any object can be used as a weapon(within reason and the laws of physics) with the intent to seriously injure or even end life. And the gun control reform that has occurred has made very little gain in violent crime. The flaw in the reform was that it assumes guns to be the cause. They are not!! It is time to address a mental health system that creates more casualties than it addresses. Until our nation collectively understands how to handle our mentally ill and treat them not as equals, but as equal to the same rights and liberties, including the right to life. This starts with the system that is currently in place
