The code is so broken by years of using it to engineer social, economic and corporate behavior as to be beyond repair. Taxes should do one thing generate revenue. The current approach to tax code has little to do with revenue generation and much to do with social and economic engineering. Return taxation to its original purpose revenue generation. Once revenues are collected, Congress can then determine how to spend them. Deductions, credits and other tax loopholes allow congress to give away (passively spend) potential tax money without having to proactively pass laws and be held accountable for how our money is being spent. Remove this bloated overhead and the tax rate will be less than 15% for everyone and understandable to 100%. Star over!
