The consequences for allowing genetically engineered salmon will be severe. It completely goes against nature to change the very DNA of an animal consumed by humans. Every gene is linked to thousands of others and to mess with a couple could cause an INFINITE number of problems! We're already seeing problems from GM plants. There is also no way to contain something like that. The genetically modified fish could find their way out and infect the natural population of the fish. To add insult to injury, none of this would be LABELED to the consumer! We have a RIGHT to know what we are putting in our bodies! There are those of us out here who'd rather not be treated as a science project!
