The PKK has led the fight against ISIS. Turkey has actively and tacitly supported ISIS in a cynical move based on paranoid fear of its own Kurdish population and their movement for self-determination against racism and inequality in Turkey. Fearing the PKK's success, after its recent victories, Turkey unilaterally broke its ceasefire and began targeting PKK fighters in Syria. The U.S. has decided to turn a blind eye to this in exchange for use of a strategic Turkish base, and a nominal commitment from Turkey to join the fight against ISIS. In fact, according to many commentators, Turkey continues to support ISIS, and uses its supposed joining the battle as a mere pretext to attack the PKK. History will not look favorably on such a cruel betrayal, and such immoral and unjust policy.
