DO NOT BAN ANY WEAPON, but to find better ways to background check and focus help for our mentally ill.

This petition is to inform our Federal government to not ban any weapons based on looks, but functionality. The current laws already placed are sufficient limiting actual assault weapons, which are classified as class 3 weapons and are taxed $200.
Making gun laws more strict or out lawing certain weapons all together will ultimately not benefit this nation at all. It will just increase black market sales, put more power in criminal hands, and take away responsible gun owners' rights.
This petition is to focus not on the weapon itself but to shift focus on getting help for our mentally ill and make back ground checks more detailed. An example could be implementing a flag on diagnosed mentally ill on background checks but not giving away personal information.
