The founding fathers knew exactly what they were doing when they drafted this amendment. Today's "semi-auto rifle" is today's equivalent to their musket.
It has already been discussed and the POTUS himself said that most gun owners are responsible owners and to "punish" them for the actions of a few is not the American way of life.
Furthermore, instituting a "semi-auto" rifle ban will only affect the law abiding citizens of this country, leaving criminals with these weapons so Mr. and Mrs. America cannot properly protect themselves against said criminals.
Please focus on new mental evaluations, more background checks, and tighten loopholes.
Finally, please stop referring to semi-auto rifles as "assault rifles"; they are two totally different things!!!
