The rush by USFWS to remove GYE grizzlies capriciously, without adequate commitment to ensure their survival, and in the face of the objections of not only 70% of the scientific community of ursine experts, but also over the objections of 80% of the American people, threatens the bears with population collapse in the greater Yellowstone ecosystem.
We call upon President Obama to halt the delisting until the needed steps to assure their survival have been produced by responsible agencies - adequate enforceable regulatory mechanisms, transparent management plans by 3 states, and amended forest plans in the GYE which incorporate the necessary post-delisting conservation measures.
