Under District of Columbia's Tuition Assistance Grant, a federal sponsored grant program for college students in Washington DC, United States citizens can be denied a grant to help pay for college. If you are a dependent claimed by your parents and your parents are not legal residents, United States Citizens, or in the country under asylum you can lose a grant despite being a citizen yourself. In my case (and in the case of many other's) my parents are here legally under a program called Temporary Protective Status (TPS) and they pay taxes and meet all grant requirements.Despite the fact that they are here completely legally and I am a United States citizen I am denied the grant that helps cover the cost between in-state and out-of-state tuition. I ask everyone to please sign and support.
