Mr. President:
On May 5 the FDA released the Final Rule deeming additional tobacco products subject to the Tobacco Control Act. The premium cigar industry has gone to great lengths to inform members of your Administration that the premium cigar industry does not warrant this type of regulation. We are entrepreneurs and craftsman. We are employers at home and abroad. We are a community of responsible adult consumers, and the science certainly does not support this action. Despite this message FDA has chosen Option 1 which contains the most restrictive forms of regulation. We respectfully ask for the consideration of these facts and the further review of this rule by numerous agencies in your Administration.
