Federal Employees should NOT receive December 24, 2013 off as a paid holiday.
WHEREAS Annual budget deficits the last several years have been as much or more than $1trillion, while the national debt has now surpassed $17trillion.
WHEREAS Federal employees already receive 10 paid federal holidays each year, as many or more than any part of the private sector.
WHEREAS The great majority of federal employees are salaried employees, and granting them another paid holiday would be the equivalent of paying them hundreds of millions of dollars for nothing, as they would perform millions of man-hours less work.
RESOLVED: Do not add to the already common myth that federal employees are lazy and unproductive by paying them for yet one less day's work!
