I am making this petition to defend our 2nd amendment rights and in deference of assault weapons in which the law abiding citizens of this nation have a right to buy and own. This recent push by your administration in the news has used the new town shooting to push this agenda onto the American people. Even when law enforcement has said that the assault weapon was not used in the shooting that happened and remained in the criminals stolen car. We already have plenty of laws already in place that do not prevent criminals from committing crimes like this.
If you really want to make improvements that we the people would support you should start with comprehensive mental health reform, background check reform. Creation of a universal federal database centered around both the items
