As it is, tuition at the University of Maryland is expensive. Out of state tuition costs roughly $30,000 a year and it is only increasing. Raising the price to attend the University of Maryland for only the majors in the computer science program, the engineering and the business school is a bad business practice and is hypocritical to the goal of attracting the best and the brightest. The rising cost itself is a deterrent for people looking to attend the University and raising the tuition for just a select group of majors is a good way of getting some bad publicity.
