Japanese nationalists worldwide want to remove the monument in Glendale, CA honoring the pain of 'comfort women' during WWII. The Imperial Japanese abducted 200,000 Korean women, mobilizing them into sexual slavery, including Filipinos, Chinese, and Europeans. Women were forced to provide sex, usually a total of 15 men a day to over 50 men on the weekends. If they refused, they were beaten and denied food. These women were not prostitutes: they received no money for providing service. This is not a false accusation of Japan. The monument is a representation of 'factual history'. Atrocities committed during war should be remembered, as we remember the Holocaust. We must bring awareness of sexual slavery & human trafficking from the past that is still present today.
