As an American student, I should be guaranteed a certain degree of privacy as to my information. However, the usage of Internet-based tools requiring an account sign-up in the curriculum often times results in the requirement to hand over personally identifying information to a party that I have no choice in selecting. I hereby propose the passage of legislature (or other action that completes my request) that prevents educational institutions from mandating website account signups in order to complete assigned coursework, and encourage such websites offering materials used by these schools to offer the option to use their services without mandating an account signup, to a reasonable means. I support my rights to information privacy, and I hope to see this current situation change.
