The signers of this petition ask the Obama Administration to refrain from sending any lethal "aid" to Syrian opposition forces fighting in their homeland. This does not include humanitarian aid.
While America must support the fight against tyranny at home and abroad, we do not find it morally acceptable nor financial prudent to send weapons to people whose intentions are not well know, and whose affiliations are not transparent.
Signers of this petition fear that the "freedom fighters" may have ties to organizations who do not have America's security in their best interest. This includes "al Qaeda", a group that has repeatedly attacked the U.S. which many Syrian rebels have claimed loyalty to. We worry that history will repeat itself, and that a well intended plan will cause immense harm
