The main reason for our debt woes is our lack of representation in congress. Congress has passed legislation on Puerto Rico that you could argue they consider us the enemy.
It was congress who passed the jones act, removed bankruptcy protection from Puerto Rico and section 936 and passed NAFTA which destroyed our local economy and put us in recession since 2006. A recession that was made worse by the 2008 recession in the mainland.
We need democracy and elected men with voice and vote in congress not a fiscal board.
