Do not strip away the pine tree symbol that doubly denotes the U.S. Forest Service & the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Created by R.E. on April 06, 2013

The current agency central logo establishment in 1905 that doubly denotes the U.S. Forest Service and the U.S. Department of Agriculture is being eradicated via a costly campaign by U.S. Department of Agriculture as of January 2013 to comply with a Visual Standards Guide, a slick document that contains this critical phrase: "Agency logos are being phased out and replaced with a standardized signature model to be adopted by all USDA agencies."

The current logo is perfectly acceptable with a lone pine tree splitting the letters U and S, letters that serve in appropriate and dual fashion denoting the U.S. Forest Service and the U.S. Department of Agriculture to be replaced by a bland costly and insignificant symbol. Please tell Secretary Vilsack no to this stripping of a historical symbol.
