It is inappropriate for the American public to have to pay, in any way, for a delegation of United States government leaders to attend the installment of the new Pope. This position, while connected to world government, is religious in nature; our foreign relations with the Vatican are irrelevant to our foreign policy. The Vatican, although a sovereign state, is equivalent to Iran and other religious autocracies with which we have nothing to do. With sequestration and potential governmental shutdowns, enough Americans are being strained so that a delegation sent from the American government, and with taxpayer money is a slap in the face. Joe Biden can afford to go on his own, and that is appropriate. Do not spend my tax dollars flying him to the Vatican.
