If the administration decides to act on the gun issue by involving mental health or any medical information, it will be done illegally and will be a violation of the Privacy Act of 1974. In doing this any member involved in signing a reform, or law, that includes entering medical/mental health information in the purchase of a firearm, can be subject to prosecution of a violation of personal privacy.
I urge the administration to look at the implications of their actions and what it might do to the health care system and how it might affect the mentally ill.
