do something to increase the penalties for crimes committed using guns, but not infringe on the right to lawfully own

The bottom line is that the guns themselves did not kill or wound anyone, it is the PERSON behind the trigger that commits these heinous acts. Mandate the penalties for using (a) gun(s) in a crime outweigh the act itself. Moving guns to the black market benefits no one but the criminal, millions of people have lawfully owned guns without incident over the course of the history of this great land. Punish the criminal. do not create more by creating ineffective "Gun Controls".
