Our children are dying! We are averaging two murders in the streets of New Orleans every day. The shootings are overwhelmingly committed by teens that have never had a chance since Katrina destroyed this city and many of its impoverished families. People are moving back and trying to rebuild this great city, but the violent crime remains and spills into every neighborhood threatening to discourage investment and economic development. This city needs an investment in education throughout the city, a law enforcement force large enough so that there are walking patrols in the neighborhoods, and reforming the easy access to guns. The officials of this city and state have failed, and it’s time for the federal government to step in and save the children of New Orleans!
