The IOC has cut wrestling from the 2020 Olympics. It is one of the oldest Olympic sports. Winning an Olympic gold medal is the ultimate goal and the biggest accomplishment possible for amateur wrestlers as there is no professional league. Taking away the possibility of an Olympic appearance from our nation's wrestlers would be a harsh blow to the sport. Wrestling teaches our young athletes many values that they can use in their life beyond wrestling. Some of these values include discipline, dedication, hard work, mental and physical toughness, self-reliance and teamwork. While this is an international issue and the White House cannot pass a law to make this change happen, raising awareness would help and having the most powerful office in the world on our side could not hurt.
