If this is truly the United States, why is there so much division amongst the states? There needs to be unity and uniformity which can be created without denying the individuality of each state. Taxes are one such thing that will create such unity. I petition the United States to do just that, Unite the States in its Federal taxes. If our government runs the country than the taxes need to be paid equally from state to state. Federal tax rates vary between 10 and 35% of taxable income. This needs to be streamlined to a uniformed 25% across the United States and its territories. Everyone plays equal amounts.
Also, during times of growing deficits and recession, the federal and state tax returns should be halted and the returns should be put towards the deficit.
