The Obama administration has again backed down on its promise to take Executive Action to protect immigrant families. Now we are being told that he has decided to postpone any action until the end of the year out of fear of a “backlash” against Democrats in the mid-term elections. Backlash works both ways. While Democrats may fear that some voters will swing to the Republican Party, Obama also needs to fear the voters that will rather stay home than vote for the party of a President that has broken numerous promises to immigrant communities. While Obama has promised to protect immigrant families, he has instead separated a record number of families through an unprecedented level of deportations.
