Minimum wage was never meant to be a living wage. If you raise the minimum wage do you think that all the individuals who currently make more then minimum wage will get a pay increase equal to the increase in minimum wage? The answer is no. Doing this will just drive up prices on everything else effectively nullifying the minimum wage hike while at the same time forcing qualified hard working people to make the same amount of money as the person who's skill set doesn't extend beyond working a nearly fully automated fryer at your local fast food joint.
This should not be allowed to happen.
