I am a flight student at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. I don't believe that closing any airports in the vicinity is a good idea, due to the fact that this is a high training area. Closing the airport towers and implementing a CTAF will increase the safety concern, due to the fact that a lot of solo flights are conducted within the vicinity.
I would petition that Towers in high practice areas should stay open due to limited training experiences.
