Don't cut federal funding for cancer research

Created by D.W. on February 24, 2013

Dear Mr. President.

As it stands, the mandatory cuts in Federal funding, due to take place in March, could potentially see funding for the National Institutes of Health and National Cancer Center, which have played leading roles in advances against cancer, cut.

While budget cuts may be necessary, I urge you to do all in your power to avoid cutting funding for cancer research. We cannot afford to set back progress against a disease which kills 1500 people in this country daily. And investment in this research, which maintains 433,000 jobs, is also a boon to the US economy.

We, the undersigned, urge you to do all in your power to make sure funding for cancer research is not cut.
