Don't force us to turn our information technology into spyware.

The CALEA act requires technology companies or individuals to produce any data they have upon receipt of a secret warrant. It could also be interpreted as requiring them to modify their products to record additional data - which the Snowden leaks strongly suggest has already happened. Imagine Google being required to modify Android to record your conversations, or Apple required to log your keystrokes when going to a private website. Combined with a gag order, this means no organization or individual developer can be trusted to honestly represent the security of their products. This is already killing sales of US technology abroad. The only way to ensure that this can not happen is to criminalize this behavior, so that software providers can protect their integrity and just say no.
