For many years, this problem has been stagnant but now it is growing into something very large. And for a problem so large it is not very noticed or acted upon by the public. With that being said nursing homes are becoming a big part of senior citizen’s lives. Along with the elderly having a safe haven to stay at, the quality of the treatment they receive leaves a great impact on them that could either make or break them. In 2000, a report from the Atlanta Long Term Care Ombudsman Program, interviewing 2,000 nursing home residents reported that 44% said they had been abused and 95% said they had been neglected or seen another resident neglected. Everyone grows old;If we do not want to end up a statistic, then the abuse has to stop now. We should be a voice for the voiceless.
