Over the past several years, polls and elections have made it quite clear the citizens of the USA have become severely divided. About half want a country with progressive (leftest) leanings and government solutions. The other half want a capitalistic country with limited government and personal responsibility. There is really nothing in-between upon which to compromise.
Wouldn't both sides be much happier with their own country instituted along their own ideological lines? The solution: Establish a constitutional convention to divide the USA into a western half and an eastern half. Use a coin flip to decide which side will be progressive and which will be capitalistic.
