Doris Miller who was denied a medal of honor during the attacks on pearl harbor.

Created by L.V. on February 12, 2014

Navy Cook Doris Miller is a forgotten hero who was denied a medal of honor for his bravery during the Pearl Harbor attack. I hope that the President as Commander in Chief would review Doris Miller's record and bravery. As a US History teacher I am sadden that even I was unaware of Doris Miller and his denial of a medal of honor because African Americans were not allowed to receive such an honor. I hope we could correct this by recognizing his acts during a terrible moment in our nations history.
