NASA's budget is currently approximately 1/2 of 1 percent of the federal budget.
To put this in perspective, the current IRS administrative budget is equivalent (and with the latest proposed increase would be more than NASA). The DOD's ICBM maintenance program has an equivalent budget.
Various studies have shown that for every dollar spent on NASA the economy gets a massive return, some studies quote 5 to 7 fold.
Let's put our priorities as a country on the future. Education, exploration, research, technology.
