Currently, NASA is not getting the necessary funding it needs to truly advance our knowledge of space and our universe. Many people think that we should be focusing more on problems on Earth, and consider money spent by NASA to be "wasted" by going into space. However, they receive inadequate funding to truly expand research and carry out more advanced missions. This has resulted in independent businesses, such as SpaceX, to attempt to perform their own tasks, starting from a far less developed stage. Why doesn't the US simply fund NASA so that we can once again dream of tomorrow? In the movie Interstellar, Cooper says, "We used to look up at the sky and wonder at our place in the stars, now we just look down and worry about our place in the dirt." Let's make sure that day never comes.
