We the people ask the federal government to Call on Congress to act on an issue:

Double the student loan interest deduction for married people filing jointly and index the amount for inflation annually

Created by T.R. on November 04, 2016

This is an issue that affects many Americans. There has not been a substantial increase to the student loan interest deduction for years and married people are penalized if both spouses have loans. Student loan debt is rising, interest rates are not falling on these loans, and the deduction is stagnant. How is this good for the American people and the economy? Purchasing power dwindles as a stagnant deduction does not keep pace with inflation.
