There are members of Congress who have made it clear that they do not have a basic understanding of science. With topics from global warming to abortion currently discussed, the few people in the nation who have the ability to draft legislation based on these topics should have at least shown that they understand the topics at hand. Before running for office, all potential Congressmen/women should be required to take a basic college-level science test comprised of questions related to biology, evolution, environmental science, etc. Those who cannot show sufficient knowledge of scientific topics should not be allowed to run for an office that would allow them to vote on matters they do not understand.
