Loose, dangling cords or strings on window coverings are potentially dangerous, if not fatal, to small children. My family has just lost a precious and healthy 3 year old girl who became tangled in such a cord around her neck and suffocated herself. After an agonizing few days of waiting and hoping for a recovery, our sweet little girl left our family too soon for one so young.
