Draft a Policy that outlines employers' restrictions and rights in respect to monitoring their employees' social media.

Created by D.R. on August 02, 2013

The corporate world is in need of the U.S. government to draft a policy outlining the boundaries of a business’s right to monitoring employees’ activities on social media for their own protection, versus the employees’ rights to privacy and expression.

Businesses at the moment have full reign in their amount of control in the employees' use of social networks and personal sites. There are many practices that use social media to gain an unfair advantage, even over their prospective employees. With access to such personal information, details about the employees that are normally left unknown in the workplace are now out in the open, which can cause the employee to feel exposed against their will. Employees need a policy to feel protected against potential discrimination or manipulation.
