The Distinguished Gentlemen of Spoken Word is community based, performance poetry group for young men age 12-21. The program pillars are : 1) Community Building; 2)Character Based, and 3) Committed Brotherhood. They use drama and poetry to convey messages of positive empowerment, insight, and motivation. For over 12 consecutive years their words have been heard in conferences, political arenas, schools, correctional institutions and at venues like NBA half time shows, college graduations, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and in 2015 the U.S. Embassy in Paris, France. Since 2008, they have refused to quit on their dream of performing for President Obama before he leaves office. The director and these youth have sent hundreds of unanswered requested. Help them as they defy the odds.
