Dress codes are something many people, mainly females, had to, or have to, deal with. These rules objectify and degrade women's bodies. Many schools deem women's clothing, while completely appropriate, "distracting to the boys". Although many dress code rules are reasonable, the reasoning behind them is the problem. When you send a girl home from school, or class, or force her to sit in the office until she is able to receive "better" clothing, you are telling her that hiding her body is more important than her education. You are telling her that making sure the boys are not distracted, is more important than her schooling. Dress codes just promote sexism and oppressive objectification towards women.
