Outstanding student loan debt is now over $1 trillion, strangling the economy. People are paying the vast majority of their monthly earnings to student loan debt and do not have enough left over for much of anything else.
If we were to reduce interest rates on all student loans to extreme low level (e.g. 1%) it would free up more money for those with student loan debt to spend on other things, which should stimulate the economy more than any tax cut.
