Low-Income students pay more than twice the price for a college degree, because of high interest rates, origination fees and other loan charges.
It is a choice to attend college, but poverty should not stop anyone from going to college.
Many students, even those with 4.0 GPAs, use DIRECT student loans to pay for college, graduate school, medical programs, etc., because financial aid is unable to cover costs.
Why does the U.S. Government charge students high interest rates AND mandatory origination fees (up to 4% for EACH loan) which in turn, collectively double the price student PAY for a college education?
Please drop ALL student loan past, present and future interest rates to 1% and eliminate all origination fees to ensure ALL students pay the same price for the same education.
