Megaupload.com and sister sites were brought down on January 19, 2012. These sites hosted content that the US Government deemed "illegal". These files were uploaded by other people, but the US and other groups such as the MPAA and RIAA failed to file DMCA charges with the site to bring down "illegal" files. Megaupload and sister companies cannot be held responsible for other people's uploads.
