drop the Keystone XL idea and instead build a water pipeline that could eventually refill Lake Mead.

Building infrastructure creates jobs. Mass pipelines that transport resources a great distance create jobs all along it's path. But all pipelines eventually leak. So it is prudent to understand the dangers of what is being pumped. Rather than pumping tar oil to large corporations for their profit, why not build a pipeline along the Mississippi valley that could alleviate flooding and help replace a dwindling water supply in the west? The pipeline would carry water to the headway of the Colorado River. From there it would flow, naturally, into the Gulf of California. It could possibly refill Lake Mead and other depleted reservoirs for agriculture and animal consumption.
